Coca-Cola and Ronaldo: For a Few Billion Less

International footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s “gesture” to one of the world’s leading sponsors of sporting events has been much talked about in recent press; there is even talk of Coca-Cola losing 4 billion dollars. All sorts of good and most honourable intentions could be put forward in explanation, but it must be acknowledged that for a high-level sportsman, who depends on precisely those colossal sums allocated by the aforementioned sponsors, to display such a lack of diplomacy in declaring his beverage preferences is rather like merrily and nonchalantly sawing through the branch he is very comfortably perched upon.
