The Chinese New Year has become a major commercial event for the wine and spirits sector these days; for the bottler “Gordon & MacPhail’s”, it’s the ideal moment to announce the sale of a limited edition 72-year-old whisky. It’s an exceptional vintage that was marked 97.5/100 in Jim Murray’s famous “Bible”, the “Michelin Guide” to whisky: “This whisky has had 72 years for something to go wrong with it. Instead … everything [has gone] right with it. The chances for a whisky … to hit this level of excellence … has to be one-in-a-million or more” A crystal decanter in a precious wood box will form the packaging for this special edition, which is already selling at more than €100,000 a bottle.
